J K Diamonds Institute Students at IIJS Bharat Premiere Show 2026

Some lessons only happen outside the classroom. On 8th and 9th August, our students stepped into the IIJS Bharat Premiere Show 2026 and experienced exactly that.

8th August: Gemology Students Explore the World of Gemstones

On 8th August, Gem faculty Jinal Kamdar along with CEO Jaynil Ajmera took our Gemology students to the Jio World Convention Centre, Mumbai.

Walking through the exhibition, students came face to face with an extraordinary range of gemstones, from rare collector specimens to the commercially popular stones they had been studying in class.

What stood out most was the business context. Students watched how gemstones are evaluated, priced, and discussed in a real trade setting. They observed negotiations happening live, something no textbook can quite prepare you for. They also spent time exploring gem-set jewelry across different styles and price points, getting a clearer sense of how stones they had graded in the lab eventually make their way into finished pieces that reach the consumer.

9th August: CAD and Manufacturing Students at the Forefront of Jewelry Technology

On 9th August, CAD faculty Kranti Kamble accompanied CAD and Jewelry Manufacturing students to the Bombay Exhibition Centre.

The focus here was on manufacturing and technology. Students moved through the exhibition exploring the latest machinery being used in jewelry production, including equipment that has been introduced recently and is beginning to change how pieces are made at scale. Several students were particularly struck by the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in the industry, from AI-assisted CAD design tools to automated processes that are making production faster and more precise.

Beyond the machines, students spent time observing finished jewelry from manufacturers and designers currently active in the market. Looking at these pieces with trained eyes, they began asking the right questions: How was this made? What techniques were used? What makes this design commercially viable? It was a practical exercise in developing design and production instincts that go beyond software skills.

Two Days, Two Venues, One Big Lesson

Watching students move through the IIJS Bharat Premiere Show 2026, connecting what they had studied in class to what they were seeing in front of them, recognizing stones, understanding machines, evaluating designs, was a reminder of why these visits matter.

The jewelry industry cannot be learned entirely from a classroom. Some things only make sense when you are standing in the middle of them.
